Last year, we spent a lot of time away from our friends and family. Now, even though we can be together again, it may feel a little awkward. We all go into our own COVID routines, and now, we're finding it difficult to go back to life or even think of ideas to do because they've been so limited.
Well, friends, don't worry. Instead of saying you're bored, we've come up with a list of fun things you can do with your friends! Take advantage of this precious time together and make sure you're (consensually) hugging one another!
Take a Vacation
Traveling with friends is often an incredible experience that will provide you with memories (and pictures) for years. Well, it can be a fantastic experience, but it can also be the worst experience of your life to discover your friend actually brushes her teeth on the toilet while cutting her toenails. To prevent adverse side effects from traveling with friends, make sure you plan efficiently and are on the same page both in what you want to get out of the trip and well, hygiene standards.
Be Tourists in Your Hometowns
If you can't manage to swing a vacation right now, being a tourist in your hometown is also an option! Plus, there are tons of benefits of traveling local, as you'll be helping the small businesses in your area stay afloat! Supporting your local tourism is a great idea right now because currently, international travel is at an all-time low. And roaming your city might even give you exercise or help you find new places to make your haunts. Whether you join a neighborhood cleanup, volunteer at a nearby animal shelter, or take a bike ride to your local museum, you never know what new gems you might find. You could even find a free movie night or outdoor concerts hosted in your own town!
Go on a Shopping Spree
Just got paid? Is it Friday night? Party hopping? Feeling right? (If you know, you know) If you happen to have some cash on hand that you want to spend, why not shop together! Good friends are the best to shop with because they know what you like and don't like and will be honest about what looks good on you. Plus, when you're planning outfits for the next time you go out together, you won't have to describe your outfit because they'll already know.
Create a Scavenger Hunt
Create scavenger hunts for one another that test your friendship! With hints that only they should know or remember, a scavenger hunt can be a fun trip down memory lane! Or you can go on a treasure hunt in search of buried treasure for a spooky good time.
Have a 90s Movie Marathon
Some of the best teen movies came out in the 90s: "Ten Things I Hate About You," "Clueless," "Notting Hill," can you tell we're hopeless romantics? You can mix it up by watching a movie from every genre, watch all movies by one actor or actress....the list goes on! Most of the great 90s classics are available to binge on streamers like Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime, so grab some popcorn and queue up your favorites.
Get Matching Tattoos
If you're spontaneous, this one might be for you! However, we're scared of needles, so we're going to move on.
Have a DIY Spa Day
Having a spa day at an actual spa is exciting but typically also costs a ton of money! Make it a spa day at home and still enjoy the stress-relieving benefits the spa provides. Try a new hairstyle, put on face masks, and watch your favorite TV series as you pamper yourselves at home.
Start a Volleyball League
Dust off your running shoes and grab a ball! If you played volleyball in the past or you're brand new, you can find a group with a similar skillset and get exercise while socializing!
If volleyball's not your thing, you and your friends can get together for weekly tennis, basketball, or soccer matches. You can even try out frisbee golf, or see if there are leagues at your local bowling alleys.
Bake a Cake
Find a recipe you've been dying to try and grab your friend for the support! Not only will you enjoy making a cake together, but you'll also enjoy eating it!
Have a Clothing Swap
Need a style refresh? Your friend might have what you're looking for. Shop in each other's closets because what's old to you might be brand new and unique for her!
Go Living Room Camping
Bring back childhood and make a pillow tent inside. Not only will you avoid bugs and having to lug your stuff through the outdoors, but you'll also be extremely cozy.
Go to Disneyland
Theme parks are always a good idea. And if you're going to Disneyland, it may be cheesy but get the Mickey Mouse ears for a hilarious souvenir.
Throw a Potluck BBQ
An easy way to host without the clean up!
Help People in Need
Many of us want to make a difference in the world, and one way to start is through volunteering. If your friends share the same desire, why not volunteer together? Not only will you be doing a good deed, but you will also enjoy time alongside your friend!
Host a Beach Bonfire
Grab the props you need for s'mores and be on your way!
Go to Wine Country
This one speaks for itself! Wine tasting is always a good idea.
Have a Photoshoot
A trend that seems very common with kids in high school and college, having a photoshoot is a fun way to pass the time. Maybe you've been dying for a new Linked In picture or a new photo for a dating app. Whatever it is, make a day out of it! Plus, it's easier to get comfortable in front of a camera when you know who's on the other side. Let your friends bring out the best, most beautiful version of yourself by hyping you up.
See a Psychic
See what the future has in store with you and your friends! Psychic is a quirky way to have a good time, and who knows, maybe the psychic will tell you exactly where to be to find the love of your life.
Start a Book Club
If you're looking for a way to read more books and potentially meet more people, starting a book club is an option. Of course, there is more to creating a book club than simply telling people to read a book. But, if you are willing to be organized and ready to come up with engaging topics to discuss, this is a great option!
Learn a Language Together
Get jealous of your friends who fluently speak multiple languages? There's no reason that can't be you too! Find a friend or make a friend by taking online classes or even some in person. Having support and fun together helps make the learning process way more enjoyable.
Host a Game Night
From board games and card games to chess and poker, there's no shortage of fun games you can play with your friends. Whether you're playing Monopoly with your BFFs or having a video game tournament with large groups of friends, game nights are a great way to spend an evening. You can even come up with fun prizes for the winners, or let bragging rights be their own reward.
Drive Across the USA
If you have a lot of time on your hands, this is a fun multi-day activity to do with a group of friends. Ever thought about what the cliffs look like on the Pacific coast or wondered what the Oregon Trail looks like? You can explore everything the US has to offer in your car.
Go to a Music Festival
There are more than 800 music festivals in the U.S. alone. Some feature particular genres, while others span across a variety of genres. From the ever-famous Coachella to Summerfest and even Stagecoach, we're confident there's a festival that will be great for you and your group of best buds!
Hike to the Top of a Mountain
If you live in an area that has access to the outdoors, take advantage of it! Get out there and walk, run or hike! There are so many fun things to do and see. And of course, if there is a hike that has been on your mind for some time, go after it! Not only will it make for an adorable Instagram picture but also, you've got bragging rights forever!
